Well hello there. I see that you have stumbled upon my lovely blog Beautiful Betta Fish. If you made it to this page you must be wanting to find out more about the girl behind the fish. So here it is. A plethora of information about me.
My name is Kaylan, and I am currently attending college for Textiles, Apparel, and Merchandising with a concentration in merchandising and a minor in marketing. I will be starting my sophomore year of college in August and I couldn't be more excited. I have had plenty of experiences in college that weren't the greatest but a lot of them were pretty awesome.
I got my first betta fish in the second semester of my freshman year. He is a red veiltail named Oliver, and let me tell you he is my old man. He is so laid back that he let himself almost get eaten by a snail. Yes you read that right, a snail. I got him when I went to the pet store with a few people from my floor. I was just going to get off campus. I wasn't actually planning on buying a fish, but it happened.
I got my second betta almost two months later. She is a multi-colored crowntail. She can be a hand full and as cute as she looks she can actually be more aggressive than Oliver, or the other three males I have yet to mention. She kills ghost shrimp at first sight, and will attack a snail as soon as it comes out of its shell. She has never tried to escape her tank that she has by herself, but she did try to jump to the side Oliver was on when they were living in a split tank. They have a complicated relationship, but that is a lot to talk about now.
Then I got my third betta about a month after Cinderella. He is a black and navy blue/green twin tail halfmoon. He was bought after getting Cinderella a new tank and having one side of a divided 10 gallon with no fish on it. My mom helped my pick him out so I consider her to be partly her fish. He got left at home in the split 10 gallon by himself with my mom for two weeks while I finished school. I think that was when she realized how cool bettas really were because she would send me pictures every day and tell me how much she liked him.
Then came my fourth, and final at this point, betta. Finn is a crowntail male that is a yellowy clear color with navy blue on his fins. I got him after dealing with a bad situation at work and I am glad I did. I wrote a whole post on my instagram about Finn, so I won'g go into many details here. Maybe I will post it on this blog sometime.
I also have 8 cory catfish of three different types and a gold mystery snail. To say I am a fish lover would be an understatement. I am a fish addict. I have been from a very young age, but after moving to my step-dad's house when I was 8 I never got to have a big tank like I did when my mom and I lived by ourselves. I tried on and off to keep fish and thought they would live for a month or so I couldn't keep them alive longer than that. Thankfully the bettas have been better for me and I enjoy having them. I am excited for you guys to go on my betta care journey with me. Who knows where is may lead us.
